what our customers say

"In April of 2007, David painted our townhouse in Mesa, AZ. We found him to be dependable both in keeping the scheduled appointments for the estimate and in his arrival time during the days he painted. In addition, he allowed four days for the job and completed that on schedule. He was organized, methodical and neat in his approach. The quality of his work we found to be very good. We would not hesitate to recommend him to our friends and family."
—Leon & Brenda Beverly, Mesa

About Us

"Habits are created from what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not a random act but a habit. Habits make us what we are...and we are the best!" -David Grimes

In the summer of 1967 before beginning my sophomore year in high school, my brother-in-law asked me if I wanted to paint the new apartments he was building. I said yes and being 15 years old, I was not able to refuse the dollar an hour he offered to pay.

Having graduated from high school in 1970, I was honored to be hired by a large engineering firm in Florida as a structural designer. For 25 years, I prepared the structural design drawings for large industrial projects like power plants, paper mills and my favorite—NASA. To me, board drafting was an art form and it carried over into perfecting my craft as a painter (I would do drafting until 5:00 pm and then go and paint until 8:00). Drafting required extreme detail and neatness, just like most painting, especially interior work.

In 1983 I was called into the gospel ministry, graduated Bible College in 1986 (ThB) and pastored 3 churches before moving to Arizona in 1998 to become Vice President of the largest motorsports ministry in the United States. In 2002 that position went away and once again, I started painting full time.

Today, OnaMission Home Painting supports my family and three ministries, Arizona Raceway Ministries (NASCAR), Living InHIM Ministries and Arizona Corporate Chaplains. With a few exceptions, since 1967, I have painted homes and small businesses while working in engineering or being involved in ministry.
